How To Make A Dove Kite

How To Make A Dove Kite
by Marissa S.--2nd grade

Do you know how to make a Dove kite? I’ll show you!
First you read the instructoins. Then you make a list of supplies. Next you check that you have the supplies: streamers, stapler, 2 drinking straws or long dowel, construction paper or poster board, opaque machine, string, bamboo skewers, black marker, pencil, paper punch, and crayons if you want the Dove kite to be colorful. Next use the opaque machine to enlarge the pattern to the poster board and trace it. After that cut the poster board on the edges. Now you redraw the paper feathers with black marker. Then fold the Dove in half. Then you put skewers in the back fold and glue. Now tape the 2 straws or the long dowel across the back of the wings. Next you cut out two holes, one on each side of the middle of the kite. After that put the string through the holes. Last you put the streamers on the bottom with tape. Some safety rules are: Do not fly kites near electrical lines or trees or in stormy weather. Also do not fly kites over children. Now you are ready to fly your Dove kite!

  • Marissa,
I am impressed if you can use the opaque projector. This is an old machine, but probably comes in handy for this type of kite making! I would love to see a picture of your kite, it sounds very pretty.
